The Challenges of Short Barreled Rifles

If you’re thinking about a short-barreled build you need to understand that there are a few challenges unique to the short-barreled rifle scene. One of those is keeping yourself, as a shooter, separated from the muzzle blast when you shoot. Something as seemingly insignificant as a few inches in proximity can make a world of difference. Dust printing, concussion, and burning eyes from muzzle blast are all greater challenges when you’re operating a short-barreled rifle. It’s not unusual for an SBR guy to spend more time and money chasing the right muzzle device than any other guy at his range.

The Linear Compensator .308 ZCOMP is the Right One

Cross Machine Tool takes care of the problems inherent to SBRs with the CMT Tactical ZCOMP LINEAR .30. The ZCOMP design leaves ports off of the 12 o’clock position to keep visual disturbance from expelled gasses at a minimum. Side ports are kept to a minimum to keep concussion issues for the shooter and his neighbors at bay. They even considered the pone shooter’s comfort by giving the ZCOMP linear compensator 308 a solid 6 o’clock so there’s no dust flying up even when shooting snake-low in the sand. Using a linear compensator focuses blast forward, giving better muzzle control and sending the hot gas and soot away from the shooter. This is the one you want to give yourself that edge.
