Glock Back Plates

Glocks are renowned as some of the best striker-fired pistols on the market. They are accurate, reliable, and used by military and law enforcement worldwide. However, one of the main reasons these pistols are so common among civilians is their incredible aftermarket support.

There are several manufacturers in the market who make all kinds of Glock parts. One of the parts that very few people tend to think about when it comes to aftermarket Glock parts is the back plate.

Why Install an Aftermarket Glock Back Plate?

The back plate is installed behind the slide to cover the striker and other working mechanisms of the pistols. A stock backplate doesn't serve much more purpose other than that. However, there are many innovative gunsmiths in the US, and many companies have come up with cool Glock back slides that are purpose-built for competition pistols.

These slides also incorporate racking handles, which allow shooters to rack their slides more quickly and easily. These racking tabs or handles may be on one side or both sides of the end plate.

Some manufacturers even make unique end plates, which have a universal optics mount attached to them. It is a very affordable way to make your Glock optics ready. However, it may not retain zero as effectively as an optic mounted directly on the slide.

The most popular reason to install a new back plate on your Glock is probably aesthetics. There is a wide range of backplates available on the market, which come in different colors and have different engravings and patterns on them.

Overall, the Glock back plate can be a simple and affordable way to add a little flare to your Glock.
