Solid iron sights have been found on guns ever since barrels were rifled. The popularity of the folding backup sight really gained momentum after the use of optics became more prevalent. Some shooters still rely on open sights, although the vast majority see them as an element of redundancy in the event that their primary optics fail. If you're in need of a reliable front sight to serve as a back up to your optic, look no further than the MBUS Pro Front Back Up Sight from Magpul. This all-steel sight undergoes a ferritic nitrocarburizing process that makes it an exceptionally rugged and reliable sight.
Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight is Resilient
The Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight resembles the classic, battle-tested M4 front sight design with wings protecting the sight post. The Magpul Pro front sight is a uniquely simple design involving no buttons to push or springs to break. To either deploy or stow the Magpul Pro front sight you have to purposefully move it into position by hand. This is actually a good element, for there are fewer moving parts to fail and the process is virtually silent. There is a solid detent that locks the Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight in either its up or down position. The fact that it's not completely locked in vertically is beneficial. If you encounter an obstruction, the sight will fold down without harm instead of being damaged.
Magpul Pro Front Sight Is The Perfect Fit For Your Weapon
In its folded position the Magpul Pro front sight is less than ½ inch higher than your Pic rail. Therefore, you will not have any issue mounting this sight in combination with an infra-red or laser unit if you wish. The Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight goes a step beyond the original MBUS sight. It's sleeker and slimmer but still maintains standard height
No sight adjustment tool is required to adjust the elevation - you simply use the knob on the sight itself. The sight has a very low profile in the down position and stays well out of the way. Any 1913 Picatinny or STANAG 4694 rail can accommodate the MBUS Pro Front Back Up Sight.
