Details
An upgrade to any weapon should be something that either looks good or improves functionality. In a perfect world, the change will do both. Many shooters jump into the upgrade culture a little at a time. A great starting point that hits both marks is an aluminum QD end plate.
It All Adds Up
If weight isn't a factor in your world, go with a steel end plate and be done with it. However, if you're looking for places to save weight, a Velocity QD End Plate is it. I know it's not much, but when you follow through with other lightweight components, it does make a difference. Velocity uses strong, lightweight 6061 T6 aluminum as a source for their QD endplate. The quick detach point is an added plus in case you ever want to add a sling.
You Don't Want To Get All Buffed Up.
At first glance, the end plate just sits there. In reality, it controls your destiny. When everything inside your buffer tube stays put, you're golden. What happens when the end plate fails, the castle nut backs off, and the buffer tube comes loose? Well, in a worst-case scenario, your BCG is going somewhere. You don't want that somewhere to be in your face. A Velocity QD End Plate is designed to keep your castle nut tightly staked in place. As well as, making sure that buffer tube does its job. Another cool feature on your Velocity QD End Plate is a little hole machined on its inner surface. It's not there for show. This hole is meant to help align and hold your takedown pin detent spring. This makes assembly a breeze.
