Strike Industries GRIDLOK Handguard

For many shooters, the change to a free-floating handguard is hard to make. You like the idea, but when some assembly is required, you don't want the hassle. Sometimes a simple M-LOK handguard almost requires an engineering degree to attach to your gun. However, that is not the case with the Strike Industries GRIDLOK handguard. You will literally attach this rail to your weapon in seconds.

Time Is On Your Side

Strike Industries has built its empire around the drive for innovation. SI doesn't just make gun parts. The company focuses on designing solutions for problems. Solutions for SI result in new products. SI invested a full two years of research and development in their Strike Industries GRIDLOK handguard. In both its appearance and application, the GRIDLOK takes the ordinary M-LOK handguard to extremes never before seen. You will see M-LOK slots surrounding the GRIDLOK. Additionally, SI includes Picatinny rail sections both in the front and rear with a little bonus. That little plus is an integrated flip-up front sight.

The Hard Part's Over

Other than attaching an ordinary free-floating rail, taking it off is the next worst thing. Even though you hate to think about it, sooner or later you're going to have to remove any rail. If nothing else there's routine maintenance and cleaning. Perhaps you're running a specific adjustable gas block. In your world, there will never be another gas block for you. But, you can't adjust it with the handguard in place. With the Strike Industries GRIDLOK handguard, that's no longer a problem. SI designed a proprietary barrel nut along with a quick-release lever for the GRIDLOK. The unique design makes this M-LOK handguard the quickest to install or remove in existence.

It was easy to install and comes with everything you need to install it. I like the quick detach system, it makes it easy to make gas block adjustments, cleaning, and inspection of the gas system. My son liked it and is going to purchase one.

Couldn't wait to get this on my fun gun to replace the two piece plastic handguard. Installation was effortless. The shims they provided helped center the gas tube slot on the barrel nut perfectly when tightened to 40 ft/lbs (installation called for 30-50 ft/lbs so I opted for right in the middle).
SI is the leader in innovation when it comes to firearm products. Their parts are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional.
Props to Wing Tactical for their lightning fast shipping. Other dealers state 4-7 days to get your orders out the door but these guys get it out same day if you order before 1pm Pacific time and next day for after. They are my go to dealer for all things pew pew.

after building a few ar's I decided to make a color themed rifle. the part is a bit pricier than most handguards/rails but is well worth it imo. The handguard is very comfortable to grip even for extensive shooting periods. Installation isn't so difficult as long as you go on YouTube or the link on product box and follow the instructions. I damaged the barrel shroud (my own fault) and replacement part seems to only come as a kit so it was rather expensive to replace. my red looks more like maroon however after my first time shooting it (~300 rds) and no amount of cleaner seems to remove the carbon/lead residue (I'll admit that I waited about 2 weeks before going to clean my gun so that probably was my fault....just something to be aware of).

  • A nice piece of hardware

Built two fun gun/plinkers with function/accuracy and aesthetics in mind for my self and the Mrs. so first off I’ll go with fit and look: they are high quality products that fit great, and look great. Strike delivers high end ano jobs and when correctly assembled there is no rattle in these. The fit was almost to perfect with Aeros enhanced upper receiver and strikes ultimate dust cover. The lines flow and meld amazingly well. Nice option of the flip up front sight. There is some assembly required, I read a review that a gentleman somewhere wrote complaining that you can over tighten and brake the locking mechanism that clamps down on the barrel nut.. please don’t let this dissuade you.. if you are experienced in AR platform assemblies it won’t be an issue. The switch system is nice, holds securely with good tight tolerances. A nice option when running adjustable gas blocks and a long handguard.
All in all, if you like the look it’s worth the money. They are sharp looking weapons and that was the idea.
FDE looks like a hybrid light geissele DDC and shade of burnt bronze. Red is standard strike red. If you stick to strikes parts they look great together.
I’m loving the rifles however, and I say this for those who do not carry or employ weapons professionally, these are not handgaurds that will adorn my duty weapons. You want a down range piece, stick to the platform picks we use in the community, geissele, KA, DDMk18 etc..

That being said I think they’re great. I’ve got two now with no regrets.
