After Spike’s Tactical introduced their first Battle Trigger a few years back there was an explosion of cut-rate copycats on the market. Most of them looked great but failed when called upon for true performance. Unfortunately, that flood of inferior product tainted the market and changed the consumer’s price expectations. Instead of throwing in the towel and dropping price on Spikes Tactical Trigger, the folks at Spike’s Tactical went back to the design bench and created the Spikes Tactical Enhanced Battle Trigger.
Spikes Tactical Enhanced Battle Trigger features a hammer and trigger that are cold hammer forged from 8620 Tool Steel, resulting in much more reliable components than standard cast blanks can produce. The blanks are then precision machined on 5-Axis machining centers.
The new Spikes Tactical Trigger’s hammer is machined with pockets to reduce mass, heat treated and coated in Matte Nickel Boron for smooth operation. They’ve eliminated the J spring and traded it for captured KNS pins. The result is less drag on the hammer during operation, and reduced wear.
The hammer forged trigger is machined, heat treated and coated in Matte Black Nitride. It has also been specially machined to reduce mass and weight. It’s designed to be adjustable so that travel in pull, reset, and disconnect can be reduced. If yours is an extreme use or tactical duty application you can leave out the adjustment screws or use thread lock to keep them in place after you’ve fine-tuned your Spikes Tactical Trigger. If you’re more of a competitive trigger, the Spikes Tactical enhanced Battle Trigger can be adjusted for match- level performance.
Spikes hasn’t forgotten the rest of the trigger assembly. They use quality Mil-spec Trigger and disconnect springs made of 17-7 stainless. The hammer spring included with this set up is a JP 3.5T red hammer spring. When paired with the redesigned, reduced mass Spikes Tactical Hammer you’ll maintain a smooth pull and get positive ignition even with harder primers. If you want a higher pull weight than the 4.5 to 6.5 pounds, or you need more energy to your primers than the Enhanced Battle Trigger is designed to deliver, you may install a standard Mil-Spec hammer spring.
The Spike’s Tactical Enhanced Battle Trigger is easily one of the best triggers values on the market. In this trigger, Spike’s succeeds in their mission to provide the best equipment to all shooters regardless of their shooting style, and they’ve done it with one trigger.
