Details:

Have you ever run into the problem that the barrel nut will not align for the gas tube? Or have to over torque the barrel nut to make it fit and end up tearing up the threads? Some of our customers let us know that they had built several ARs and thought they knew how, but they didn’t do their homework. Don’t make this mistake, read and really know how to install the barrel nut and don’t forget a barrel nut shim kit.

Some Things Have to Be Done the Right Way

These Aero Precision AR15 barrel nut shims have only one purpose in life, to allow you to time the upper receiver with the gas tube. Basically, you have to be able to hold the upper, attach the barrel, torque down the barrel nut and then the fun starts. Measure the gap, take off the nut and install the right number of AR15 barrel nut shims. You need to torque, loosen, and retorque until the gas tube is straight on the top, barrel nut shims will allow you to time your barrel nut with the proper torque. A good quality Aero Precision barrel nut shim kit is an absolute must to do the job right.

Have It and Not Need It Is Always Better Than Need It and Not Have It

Once you're around the shooting world for a time you learn it’s a necessity to keep some spare parts on hand. Especially when you are building a new AR-15, and the last thing you need to complete your build is to install the handguard. Realistically normal people can’t afford to keep extra custom triggers on hand “just in case” or waiting for the next build. However, one Aero Precision barrel nut shim isn’t going to break you, unless you don’t have one when you need it. Make sure you buy a quality, stainless steel Aero Precision barrel nut shim kit.
