During my build, I was attempting to time my muzzle device and went to the usual crush washer. That failed and was really frustrating as it looked like I was going to need a second crush washer to get it timed. As it is said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.” I stopped what I was doing, got a glass of tea and was browsing the Wing site. (You folks are great by the way) and I saw the shim kit. Ordered it and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. Two shims of different sizes fixed my build. One thing though, the shims circumference didn’t match the barrel/muzzle intersect, so I marked the shims with a dry erase marker and judiciously trimmed them to size with a pair of scissors.
I really appreciated the way the shims were packaged and the only “gripe” about the packaging is the card which has the sizes on it is used to seal the bag. I understand it is a cost saving measure, but whatever you do, don’t lose that card! I resealed the bag and used a permanent marker to write the sizes on the bag itself and taped the size card to the package.
Bottom line, no hyperbole, this shim kit can easily be used alone or in conjunction with a crush washer to quickly time a muzzle device. My next build, I’ll use these shims and forget about the crush washers. Inexpensive, easy to use, you can’t go wrong.
