Details:
The Breek Arms Sledgehammer Omni-Buster LE Latch AR-15 Charging Handle takes the gas-management design of the standard Omni-Buster and pairs it with shorter, lower-profile latches.
At 2.07 inches across, the LE version is noticeably narrower than the standard Omni-Buster's 2.59-inch latch width. There's less hardware sticking out on either side of the receiver, which helps reduce snagging on slings, clothing, and other gear.
The latches are still fully ambidextrous, with serrated surfaces for a secure grip.
Three Gas-Reducing Features
The LE Latch version retains the Omni-Buster's internal gas-management system. Breek Arms uses three features to address gas escaping around the charging handle:
- Raised Rear Shelf: Helps block gas traveling backward from the upper receiver toward the shooter's face.
- Internal Stem Baffling: Slows gas expansion inside the charging handle area.
- Optimized Stem Geometry: Redirects escaping gas away from the shooter.
These features are particularly relevant on suppressed AR-15s, where increased backpressure can send more gas through the rear of the receiver. They can also help manage escaping gas during unsuppressed use.
Compact Controls, Ambidextrous Operation
The shorter LE latches keep the charging handle close to the receiver without giving up access from either side.
Their serrated contact surfaces provide traction for bare or gloved fingers. The compact shape is especially suited to duty-style rifles and other setups where protruding controls can get caught on equipment.
For left-handed shooters, the ambidextrous layout also means there's no need to reach across the rifle to operate a right-side-only control.
Made in the USA.
If you want the Omni-Buster's gas-reducing features but prefer controls that sit closer to the receiver, the LE Latch version is the more compact option. It keeps the same internal gas-management approach with a narrower, less exposed latch profile.
