Details:
The MIMTAC Drastic Gen 2 AR Trigger takes the original Drastic's single-stage design and drops the pull weight to 3.2 lb. MIMTAC also refined the machining and polished the engagement surfaces, giving the Gen 2 a smoother pull with less friction.
There's no creep before the break, and the reset is exceptionally short. It's still recognizably a Drastic trigger, just with a lighter pull and some worthwhile changes to the way it feels.
A Flat Trigger with A Finger Index
One of the more noticeable changes is the redesigned flat trigger blade. Instead of a plain, straight face, MIMTAC added an integrated finger index platform.
That small detail gives your finger a defined contact point on the trigger. It also changes how the blade feels compared with a conventional curved trigger or a flat blade without an index.
Polished Engagement Surfaces
MIMTAC paid particular attention to the contact surfaces inside the Gen 2. The improved machining and polishing are intended to reduce friction through the trigger's movement.
The result is a clean single-stage break without the gritty or dragging sensation sometimes associated with basic factory triggers. The short, positive reset is another part of the design, with very little forward travel required before the trigger resets.
Self-Contained Drop-In Construction
The Drastic Gen 2 comes as a self-contained drop-in trigger assembly, rather than a collection of separate fire-control components.
It's designed for most AR-15 and AR-10 platforms, although compatibility should be checked with proprietary lowers and nonstandard fire-control systems.
What Changed with Gen 2?
Compared with the original Drastic, the Gen 2 brings three notable changes: a lighter 3.2 lb pull, more refined engagement surfaces, and a new flat trigger blade with an integrated finger index.
The familiar single-stage operation remains. If you liked the original Drastic's straightforward break but wanted a lighter pull and a different trigger face, those are the reasons to look at the Gen 2.
