Forward Controls Design ABC/R (Augmented Bolt Catch/Release)

The Augmented Bolt Catch / Release (ABC/R) is specifically designed to operate with ambidextrous magazine releases. Factory-installed bolt releases tend to interfere with the ambi magazine release feature with a hard-to-access lower paddle. The levers on most ambidextrous mag releases are on the same plane as the lower paddle of the bolt catch, making it difficult to identify the paddles by feel. The difficulty is exacerbated with gloved hands.

What Is So Special About The ABC/R Bolt Catch?

To avoid the above problem, the lower paddle on this release is designed to extend further than most of the ambi mag releases on the market today. The ABC/R-F by Forward Controls Design also features a 10-degree angle to give it an increased surface area.

The top paddle for this catch has been made slightly larger with a five-degree angle to make it easier for the user to access with the thumb or palm. A notch integrated into the lower paddle of the catch provides a useful reference point for you to locate the paddle without the need to look at it. To avoid undue strain and stress on the spring, the weight of this bolt release has been kept close to that of the Mil-Spec catch.

All components of an AR-15 firearm should be of the highest possible quality to ensure that they last as long as possible. This Forward Controls Design Augmented Bolt Catch / Release is made from 8620 alloy steel, then black oxide coated to resist corrosion and wear.

Forward Controls Design Augmented Bolt Catch / Release (ABC/R) Comes in: Dimpled and Serrated designs.

Much smaller than I expected. There are larger bolt releases around. Not worth that much money.

I run these In 308 and 556 version and they are of high quality , never skipped a beat yet and I don’t imagine they ever will. They also offer more purchase area for easier and faster manipulation.
